Artist feature and Giveaway!
ENDED winner #61
i am pleased to announce my first featured artist!
Lara Katherine Mountain Colley, is the artist behind Mountain Hearth handicrafts. She is an at-home mamma of 8-year-old twins in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. In the process of following their dreams, her family moved out to a farmhouse with a little land in the country this past year.
When she is not creating beautiful fairies, wool pouches and enchanting little snails...she can be found, cooking, canning, camping, wildcrafting food, working on getting the garden established, and tending her chickens.
"Nature gives me a lot of inspiration, and I love to work with and incorporate natural materials."
You can read more of Lara's daily life at her personal blog A Mountain Hearth.

Lara has been a crafter her whole life, her hands are always busy making something.
Inspired by the local Waldorf school, she learned a lot about working with wool and natural materials from the amazing handwork teachers there. She gets her wool locally from two places, one is a great store called Creative Hands Merchantile, and Dye Lots owned by another amazing woman who dyes all her wool right in the shop. Lara uses a combination of wet felting and needle felting in her artwork.
This year she decided to turn her crafting into a home based business. Lara, started out selling her faeries at the Eugene Waldorf School store and to folks in her community, and has now expanded to selling her wool felting, jewelry and other handcrafts online and as custom orders locally.
She is currently focusing on her Etsy store, and plans to expand with a booth at school festivals and the local farmers market this summer.
"As my children grow older, I will see where the path of handcrafting takes me."
i was immediately drawn to Lara's beautiful creations. i am sure you all know by now, of my love of fairies and elves and such. :) The little snails (my favorite) are so detailed and magical, and this felted wall hanging of the classic tale 'The Runaway Bunny' is absolutely fabulous! Her blog is incredibly inspiring as well, i do hope you will take the time to check it out. i especially like her post on natural dyed Easter eggs.
So, like what you see? All of these items are available for purchase in The Mountain Hearth Etsy shop.
