Bendy dolls for sale.

i have been busy this week making bendy dolls. None of these girls have names yet, but my girl has been dying to name them... so she will probably get to do that some time this week.

i am still working on pricing info. Right now i'm pricing them at $10 each shipped first class (more for priority). That price is for the doll only, no accessories. Chances are, one i actually add up my time and supplies (mainly time), the price may go up a bit..so this is my introductory price to see if there is going to be any interest. i'm offering them here and on my facebook fan page, and will eventually be putting them on etsy. So if you see something that interests you, you'll want to snag it quick! :)

i will be offering a few playsets and accessories. i have toad stools in small and large, bakers sets, tea party sets and 'under the sea' sets....accessories similar to what i made my daughter. Again, i'm still working out the pricing on this stuff, so if you have an interest just inquire...i'd be happy to work with you.

i will also consider some trades. Especially pottery, handmade soap and natural/waldorf style toys. :)

Another favorite, blond haired forest gnome. She is adorable! My first attempt at a embroidered leaf on her skirt. Hat is removable, but can be sewn on if preferred.

Lastly, another little mermaid with a felt 'shell' top. The pink sea anemone is an example of one of the accesories i can make for the mermaids. i can also do the sleeping bags/pillows like i made for my daughters playset. You can check this post to see what i'm talking about.

i have the materials to make a few more, but then i really need to sell one or two so i can order some more materials! Come on now, help feed my addition. :)

Ecomom Review and Giveaway!

i'm super excited to tell you all that i had the pleasure of doing another review for Ecomom. Ecomom sent me one of their products to review. i received this bamboo compost pail. i have to tell you, i absolutely love it! i have been looking for a good compost pail that was functional, but also attractive on my counter. With our garden and canning, we have a lot of kitchen scraps and compost all of it. i don't have room under my sink for a big compost bucket, and really needed something smaller for my counter top. i've been using a large bowl with an ill fitting lid, that just was not cutting it! i've seen a few ceramic compost pails, but with my butter fingers i would break it in no time! This is really the perfect compost pail for me.

While cooking, i keep it in front of me to put all my food scraps in. Then once finished, i put the lid on and move next to the sink and we scrape our plates into it after dinner. It has a hard plastic liner that is easy to remove and clean. The lid has dual charcoal filters that keep odors contained, and the tight fitting lid keeps fruit flies out. It holds 3.25 quarts/3 liters and has a sturdy carrying handle for easy transport to the compost bin. This really is a fabulous item. Ecomom also carries compost pails in stoneware and stainless steel.

Autumn weekend.

This weekend was fun of lots of laid back fun. On Sat we enjoyed the Sinkland Farms Pumpkin patch. On Sunday, i took the kids to our local library to watch How to Train Your Dragon. We actually saw this in the theater when it first came out, and enjoyed it enough to see it again. Great movie if you haven't seen it yet!

We spent the morning playing outside. The kids racked up a huge pile of leaves and had a ton of fun playing in them.

They both love to get totally buried.

The county that borders us, has a local wagon train society. Because we are right on the border, our road is often the route of the wagon train. We usually see them on holidays, Labor day, 4th of July or Memorial day. This year we hadn't seen them at all, and then they appeared out of the blue this weekend. It was just a small a train, with a few wagons and many rides. It's always fun to go outside and watch them ride past.


This year a couple of the folks brought their horses over to the fence so the kids could pet them.

My girl spent most of the afternoon chasing and catching chickens. This is one from our last batch of peeps. They have all their feathers in now, and we are still trying to determine if we have hens or roosters. It is looking like possibly 2 hens, and 4 roosters...ugh!

We carved pumpkins and roasted pumpkin seeds.

Sage decided to just color hers instead.
We are gearing up for Halloween, and putting lots of thought into costumes. We really haven't done much decorating yet, so i need to work on that this week. We made pumpkin and bat sugar cookies, and i'm planning to make some more spooky food this week. Family fun website always has really creative ideas for some spooky foods.

Sinkland Farm Pumpkin Patch

This weekend we took a trip to the local Pumpkin Patch Sinkland Farms, in Christiansburg Virginia. We have only been here once before, a few years ago when i volunteered to chaperon my boys kindergarten field trip.

i enjoyed it much more, as a family activity. :)

We started our visit admiring all the pumpkins and enjoying a cup of fresh apple cider! Yum!

Then we headed down to the barn to see the animals. They had goats, pigs, miniature donkeys, bunnies, chickens, sheep a full size donkey and a huge Belgium Draft horse.

Our favorites were the baby goats. They were rally tiny, probably only a few months old. They had a 'bubble gum style' machine set up so you could get a small handful of animal feed for $.25.

The baby goats were our favorites to feed. There little tongues would come out and lick the food up.

They were so sweet.

Seems like everything we go to around here includes the milk a cow station. :)

They also had a hay jump.

A mini hay maze for the little ones. They also had a traditional corn maze, but we decided to pass on it this year. ( i still have memories of watching children of the corn with i was a teenager). lol.

Chunkin' pumpkins. i believe this was sponsored by the boyscout. It cost $1 for 3 pumpkins, and if you hit one of the marks they had on the hillside you'd win a free ice cream.

One of the highlights of the weekend was watching the World Champion pumpkin catapult, Onager.


We really enjoyed our time at the pumpkin patch, and can see this becoming an annual tradion. There was really a lot to do and look at. They had live music playing, craft vendors and lots of activities for the kids. Admission is free, but there is a $3 parking fee. You can make it a very inexpensive afternoon, bring a picnic lunch and enjoy all the free activities or you could go all out, have a really good time and spend a lot of money. They had hay rides, the corn maze, horseback trail rides, horse and cart rides, face painting and lots of great food! We enjoyed apple cider, kettle corn, and ice cream while we were there.

So maybe i'm starting to slowly embrace the season...just a little.

Garden Bloggers Bloom day-Oct.

i just recently came across Garden Blogger's Bloom day from a link posted at the Almo farms blog. It's easy to participate. Just post on your blog about what is blooming in your garden on the 15th of the month and then leave a link in the ‘Mr. Linky’ widget, and comment to give us a hint as to what we might in your garden in mid-October. i was a little late in posting, but these photos are of things that were blooming on the 15th, in fact they were all still blooming yesterday before last night heavy frost.

Lots of Cosmos. i have these blooming in white, pink and dark pink.

Nasturtium....one of my favorites. i just posted pictures of many of my blooming nasturtium, i have them in all ranges from pale yellow to deep red. You can view more photos of them here.

i still have a few black-eyed Susan blooming here and there, and morning glories.

i have a lavender still in bloom, which i find odd. Most of my lavender finished blooming in July.

One lonely little eggplant flower. My eggplant did absolutely nothing this year, and then decided to bloom a few days before the first frost.

Sweet potatoes. These were all dug just a few days ago, but they were still blooming on the 15th.

Sweet peppers getting a very late start. Many of my peppers plants just this month decided to flower and start producing.

And yes...tomatoes. i had so many late tomatoes. Yesterday, the plants were blooming and loaded with green tomatoes. Last night when i heard about the coming frost, i went out in the dark, and picked all the green tomatoes.

Lastly, i found this one sweet little daisy next to my mailbox. Daisies are one of my favorite flowers. i love their simplicity and they always make me think of the warmth of spring and summer.
